The yearly event showcases the work of black artists in the genres of music, fashion, art, and film. Since its commencement in 2005, Afropunk has grown exponentially since its founding to become a global phenomenon with events happening around the world.

The festival is best known for its eclectic mix of punk music from various genres such as soulful hip-hop to hard rock and heavy metal.
